Testimonials

I first met Heather 14 years ago when a young horse I had bought started behaving dangerously. I had no prior knowledge of Natural Horsemanship. Heather's attitude from the moment she met Sweetpea impressed me, she walked Pea in hand and started circling games. Pea kicked against her new education on many occasions, she would launch in on you on the lunge aggressively, rear, throw toys out if the pram. We worked with Pea on the ground and in the field for months until Heather felt we were ready for the wide world again.

Heather cycled beside us so Pea could gain some confidence to begin with. Heather gave me the skills to cope when we had problems, turning Pea when she panicked and thought of rearing, moving her feet. I gained total trust in my pony and she in me. We went on to have a fantastic time together until she had an injury, hacking, jumping, giving lessons to my grandchildren from two years onwards!

Heather never made me feel stupid for being nervous, if I was unsure of getting on she said don't, unlike conventional teachers and rightly. I got off when the going got tough hacking to begin with and led Pea past problems to gain confidence, unlike conventional teaching.

I would never have got back on my pony had it not been for Heather, her eclectic knowledge of horses and horsemanship is brilliant. She is a kind clever and generous woman who has helped me hugely in several equine situations. I recommend Heather highly to help you and your horse.

My friend and trainer Heather Seems demonstrating the basics of securing a safe relationship with your horse. Lucky flexes softy and laterally on each rein and from each aid with the lightest of touch by Heather.

I credit Heather with helping me achieve safety and confidence in all situations with my horses whether working in hand, mooching about in the stable yard or riding in a hunter class at Devon County Show and out on the increasingly busy local roads.

Heather has shown and taught me how to communicate with my horses with clarity thus gaining respect and willingness, with firmness when necessary and above all with love. I can't recommend her teaching and coaching enough.

I first met Heather about 12 years ago.  I had a troubled dominant mare called Bella and she was getting the better of me.  It culminated in her kicking me in the thigh.  It was a metered kick and only caused some bruising, but none the less a kick and it hurt!!

My ‘conventional’ horsey mentor advised that I ‘show her who’s boss.’  I have always had reservations about this logic. I am not a confrontational person and I could not see the rationale of little me at 5 foot and weighing around 9 stone, (then) getting into a physical battle with half a ton of stroppy mare!! She would win every time, hands down and then it would be me that would have been the dominant stroppy cow!!

Then I was introduced to Heather.  She educated me in the psychology of the herd and how MY behaviour was helping to cause Bella’s behaviour. I learnt to be a better leader so that dear Bella could relax in the knowledge that she could trust me..... and what a change I witnessed in our relationship. It culminated in her just wanting to be with and please me, not because I beat her into submission or forced her but...... because she chose to be with me!

Sadly Bella 1 went to Rainbow Bridge but I was blessed with another Bella who was the sweetest, most compliant mare you could ever wish to meet but appeared to have been badly treated somewhere along the way. She was a real introvert and appeared petrified. I had no hesitation in asking for Heather’s help again and witnessed a transformation beyond belief.

She grew from being a scared little pony who was difficult to catch, who if she would take a treat from your hand would only hold it in her mouth until I walked away; who stood petrified when I tried to get on her; to a beautiful, inquisitive horse who followed me around the field and did eventually allow me to ride her around our miles of glorious countryside.  Sadly however it transpired she had annular ligament problems and she too, joined Bella 1 over Rainbow Bridge.

I now have Apollo, a gelding who was sold to me as being suitable for a nervous rider, long story but he actually lacked any basic education.  I was advised by my vet and farrier to ‘send him back’ but my heart told me no.

Due to my nervousness I was going to send him to be ‘re-broken’ by someone more confident but Heather encouraged me to work with him; first building our relationship on the ground; gaining his trust and then transferring this relationship to eventually riding him.  He is now everything I could ever wish for.

I have learnt so much from all my horses .... and Heather has helped facilitate and give me the confidence to fulfil my desires. It is true that our horses reflect ourselves. It has been a real journey through which, in helping my horses they have helped me uncover painful truths about myself and heal.

Hev is a truly amazing horsewoman and person in her own right.  She is patient, kind, knowledgeable, compassionate, understanding, intuitive, perceptive, enthusiastic and truly dedicated to her quest of helping horses (and their owners) in a wholesome and holistic way.

It was not by accident that Heather and these beautiful horses with their specific troubles came into my life, (their troubles mirrored my own!) All of them have helped me grow as a person.

As the ancient Buddhist saying goes ‘When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.’  The object of my exercise was to help my horses but in learning to understand and help them I have come to have a deeper understanding of myself and heal. A truly amazing blessing.

Since Bella 1, I have developed a relationship with my horses that I thought only ‘special people’ could have.  What Heather and her teachings have helped me see is that I/we are all special people.

Thank you Heather.
One very special lady.

Heather came into our lives at a time when our options looked bleak. She was optimistic, intuitive and fun!

Those first lessons started a level of communication with my horse that I had never experienced before. Instead of my young horse and I feeling fear and pressure we began to engage with and enjoy the groundwork skills and our partnership. Nel became less introverted and concerned about doing the wrong thing and helped me to learn this new language! We have been working with Heather ever since and she has shown huge support and inspired us as our story has evolved. Challenges have become an opportunity to learn new skills and gainbetter understanding allowing us to adapt and thrive in changing circumstances.

My Horse care knowledge has grown with better consciousness of what is priority to the horse.

Overtime with Heathers tuition we have taken steady and solid steps, gradually making what once seemed to be increasingly impossible into an educated work in progress.

Heather is a highly enlightened, discerning, skilled and experienced Horsewoman with a special understanding of horses and people. Her positivity, dedication and passion for her work is immense. She has filled the gaps in our education with greater insight and enjoyment.

I feel hugely privileged to have Heathers training and guidance. She has enabled my connection with Nel to grow from fragile foundations into something that for me is profound and special.

Thank You Hev :)

I feel blessed to have met Heather, and I know Oliver (my horse) does too!. She's a truly  fantastic teacher, being able to intuitively understand where troubled horses are coming from and successfully convey their needs to the rider, so a true partnership can develop, based on good leadership.

Never ever did I EVER think I would be riding Oliver doing 'leg-yielding', 'shoulder-in' and 'travers' BRIDLE -LESS!!, - he was a bolter!. She is a brilliant 'horsewoman' and a true ambassador for Natural Horsemanship!

Thank you Heather for helping Oliver and I, to find our trust and confidence in one another again!.

Much love
